We are delighted to announce The Sherwood Group has won one of the industry’s most prestigious accolades in the category ‘Cartonboard Pack of the Year’ at this year’s UK Packaging Awards.
The Harrods Harlequin Bauble structure was designed in-house by The Group’s Smartcentre team. Kim Durose, Packaging and Design Innovation Manager commented: “The challenge was to create a card diamond-shaped construction with a hinged lid and as the bauble was held at the top, hanging from a Christmas tree, the weight of the product was a problem. We managed to overcome this by incorporating a three-point closure mechanism that supports the product and locks the carton when in its hanging position.”
The judges’ comments included:
“Brilliant construction and graphics”
“It certainly has the wow-factor! Great engineering.”
The Sherwood Group also received a nomination for excellent print with the Taylors of Harrogate Speciality Tea packaging, while its strategic partner, KMD Company was nominated for ‘Corrugated Retail Ready and Point of Sale’. In addition, The Sherwood Group was highly commended at the PrintWeek Awards in ‘Social Stationery Printer of the Year’ category.
Jeremy Bacon, the Group’s CEO who attended the award ceremony on Thursday 27th October 2016 said: “We are delighted to be recognised in our three key market segments with our printing and design excellence and to receive this award is a high accolade for all members of the team. Our customers, innovation and provision of high quality printed products are at the centre of all we do at Sherwood. We would like to express special gratitude to Harrods and Taylors of Harrogate for their support and giving us the opportunity to enter their products into the awards”.
