The Sherwood Group and Loxleys launch new training academy

The Sherwood Group and Loxleys are proud to announce the launch of their new training facilities, The SmartAcademy. The academy was developed by the Group’s dedicated in-house team, providing members of staff with new skills training and development opportunities, as well as growing their professional knowledge across several areas of the business, not least the Group’s commitment to excellence in customer service and satisfaction.

Enhanced customer service

The first training sessions took place in 2016 and entailed Operational Excellence and Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing. The training brought together production staff, the design and innovation team and members of the management team. The aim was to achieve breakthrough process improvements, operational excellence and enhanced customer service.

The investment in the SmartAcademy comes during a period of sustained business growth as a leading, independent greeting card manufacturer.

This means there is even greater need to create a supportive learning environment and knowledge sharing in clearly defined way”.

Key Account Management

Phase 2 of the training took place in March 2017. This included representatives from both Loxleys and The Sherwood Group’s Customer Services, Accounting, Sales and Marketing and management teams. The delegates learnt about Key Account Management and the practical approaches to building close relationships with customers. The number of graduates at the end of Phase 2 was 33, with a third phase planned for later in the year.

The SmartAcademy training sessions are delivered in an inspiring environment. These sessions focus on promoting customer centric culture, while team work, concrete learning processes and practices, and knowledge sharing are of paramount important.

Moreover, Loxleys and The Sherwood Group alliance has been committed to developing talented young people through apprenticeship and graduate schemes. Two members of The Sherwood Group staff have recently achieved a Level 3 NVQ in Carton Manufacture and Digital Artwork through the BPIF. More employees are currently working towards an NVQ in Print and professional accounting qualifications. At Loxleys, 42% of the production staff have recently completed a Level 2 NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations.
