The Sherwood Group

Jeremy Bacon to complete charity cycle ride

Monday, June 11th, 2018

Jeremy Bacon, the CEO of the country’s leading greeting card and packaging manufacturer, The Sherwood Group, will be taking part in a four-day charity cycle ride from London to Paris. He will be taking part to raise vital funds for the children’s charity Action Medical Research.

Action Medical Research, based in Horsham, West Sussex, is a British medical research charity founded in 1952. The charity funds cutting-edge medical research in the UK, helping sick and disabled children, and has been organising the annual cycle rides since 1982.

Together, with his wife and friend, Jeremy will ride out from Crystal Palace on 25th July 2018, taking the 340-mile route through Dunkirk and Cambrai, to arrive in Paris on 28th July.

There are a couple of reasons behind Jeremy’s cycle ride this year; “I will be cycling in memory of Lynn Tait, who died last year after a long battle against cancer. Lynn encouraged me to do my first cycle ride for Action Medical Research in 2014, while she helped to raise funds for the charity through a Christmas cards project. This initiative meant a lot to Lynn and I would like to continue supporting her legacy”, Jeremy explained.

Jeremy added: “I am pleased to see that the Christmas cards project is going ahead again this year, organised by Hannah Dale at Wrendale Designs. Our sister company, Loxleys, have already printed the cards free of charge”.

There are also personal reasons for Jeremy’s choice of route from London to Paris. During his ride, Jeremy will be passing through First World War battlefields where his Grandfather and Great Grandfather fought at the battle of the Somme and Passchendaele.

If you wish to sponsor Jeremy in taking part in the London to Paris charity cycle ride, please visit his fundraising page.

Jeremy’s fundraising target is £2,500 and any money raised will go towards helping fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and young children.

For all corporate sponsors who pledge at least £100, Jeremy will include their company logo on his bespoke cycling clothing.
