The Sherwood Group, together with the support from Nigel Quiney Publications, Paper Rose, Abacus Cards, The Art File and Cath Tate Cards, have organised the donation of a greeting card stand to Sandstones Care Home in Merseyside, who are a not-for-profit organisation, providing care and support for elderly people.
Sherwood were approached by a member of staff at The Anchor Group who asked for donations of cards for one of their homes – Sandstones, in Wallasey, Merseyside. Sadly one of their residents had passed away, and her wish for the home was to create a greeting card stand for her fellow residents and their families to purchase cards from.
Teaming up with their customers, The Sherwood Group organised the collection of a variety of cards and ensured the cards were donated in time for ‘Thinking of You Week’, to further support the GCA’s initiative.
The proceeds raised by selling the cards will help to support the care home and fund day trips for the residents, particularly those with dementia. Home Manager, Sam Armstrong added: “Thank you to Sherwood and their customers for this kind donation of cards, it enables us to raise vital funds for our amenities accounts which is used to fund special activities for our residents and grant special wishes”
Now in its fifth year, Thinking of You Week (24 Sept – 30th Sep 2018) encourages people to send a message via a greeting card – show you care with a carefully chosen card and a hand-written message!
Research has proven that receiving a hand-written card can improve your mood and sense of well-being, particularly when one is received out of the blue! Thinking of You Week asks us all to spread that sense of well-being by sending cards – whether that be your nearest and dearest, or simply someone who you know could do with cheering up!
