The Sherwood Press Hong Kong (SPHK), a Far East manufacturing subsidiary of the Sherwood Group, celebrates its 15th anniversary on the 19th November 2018.
The SPHK office was founded in 2003 by the Group’s CEO Jeremy Bacon and Derek Lam, with a vision of blending the best of East and West to provide a global manufacturing solution to the Group’s UK customers.
In November 2011, Semplice, the Group’s Far East manufacturing plant, was opened in Xiegang town, Guangdong Provice of China; to offer outstanding, cost effective production of greeting cards, gift bags, gift packaging and social stationery – ideal for intricate and hand finished products.
SPHK has enjoyed continual growth since 2003, with significant investment into the finishing and packaging capacity at Semplice. The plant is a new, modern factory with cutting-edge automated machinery. It holds ISO 14001 environmental accreditation, ISO 9001 quality assurance accreditations and is FSC certified. Semplice undergoes regular Sedex Members Ethical Trade audits (SMETA), to further demonstrate its commitment to ethical business and a responsible supply chain.
Jeremy Bacon commented: “A lot of our UK customers still have a need for our services in the Far East, including blue chip companies. As the uncertainty over Brexit continues, we are working with our customers on reengineering their products to meet their needs, promoting shared workflow and product knowledge. SPHK is financially stable, planning further investments, and expecting 2018/2019 to be its best year on record.”
SPHK and Semplice currently employ 160 members of staff.
The Sherwood Press Hong Kong company Managing Director, Derek Lam, added: “We are all very proud to have achieved this milestone. Over the last 15 years the business has gone from strength to strength, always meeting our customers’ changing needs, making us a stable, ethical and reliable partner”.
