Apply Now >The Sherwood Group is looking for an Apprentice Finishing Operator to join our skilled Production team.
In this role, you will gain hands-on experience operating and maintaining a range of finishing machinery while learning valuable real-world skills in post-press processes, including die-cutting, nesting, window patching, in-line gluing, and stock control. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career in a fast-paced print and packaging environment while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
Under supervision and through structured training, you will learn to operate and maintain finishing equipment including:
- Die-cutting machines, Foiling emboss machine
- Nesting lines
- Window patching systems
- In-line gluing units
- Assist in the preparation of materials, loading and unloading jobs, and understanding job specifications
- Support quality control checks to ensure products meet required standards
- Understand and follow health and safety procedures and comply with workplace safety practices
- Develop awareness of stock control procedures within the warehouse, including raw materials and finished goods handling
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment
- Complete all college assignments, assessments, and reviews on time and to the best of your ability
Training and Qualifications:
- This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering Campus. This attendance is required during term time only
- You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession
- You will experience a blended learning model.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the right candidate will have access to long-term career progression opportunities within the company.

Working week: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm, with a half-hour unpaid break. Expected apprenticeship duration: 1 year 6 months. Possible start date: 2nd March 2026.
