The Sherwood Group invests in solar energy to power a greener future

The Sherwood Group, a leading packaging manufacturer based in Nottingham, is proud to announce the successful installation of a new solar PV panel system at its headquarters, completed in March 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact, we have installed a total of 733 solar panels across two systems — delivering 234.9 kWP and 94.95 kWP respectively, with a combined output of 329.85 kWP. This new investment will enable the Group to generate almost 295,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy per year, helping to power our operations while significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

Our recent investment in clean energy demonstrates The Sherwood Group’s deep-rooted commitment to a sustainable future. Martin King, Operations Director commented:

Our investment in solar panels, a clean and renewable energy source, will not only help us reduce reliance on non-renewable power and lower carbon emissions across our business, but will also make a significant contribution to our environmental goals, delivering long-term savings and supporting the sustainability of our operations for many years to come.

The solar installation is the latest initiative in The Sherwood Group’s long-standing environmental strategy, which includes continuous efforts to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and implement sustainable practices throughout our operations.

Investing further in sustainable transport

In addition to the solar investment, The Sherwood Group has also invested in the installation of two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at its Nottingham site. These EV chargers are available for use by both staff and visitors and represent another important step in the Group’s mission to further lower carbon emissions and support the transition to more sustainable transportation options.

By encouraging the use of electric vehicles and generating renewable energy on-site, The Sherwood Group continues to lead by example in the packaging manufacturing sector — showing that commercial success and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
