One of the UK’s leading, independent packaging manufacturers, The Sherwood Group has made a major investment of £2m into its Nottingham manufacturing plant in response to the significant growth within its packaging division.
In April 2022, the company installed its new foiling and embossing machine ETERNA EFOIL 1060 Elite to meet an increased demand for high-end packaging. The new ETERNA machine allowed the company to double its foiling capacity and deliver exceptional quality of finished products.
In July 2022, the Group added a brand new ERGOSA C semi-automatic packer to its current portfolio, and it is expecting a delivery of new Bobst EXPERTFOLD 110 A3 later this summer to further boost its folding and gluing capacity and efficiency.
Richard Bacon, Managing Director at The Sherwood Group commented:
“The investment has reinforced our commitment to the packaging market. We are looking to grow the business considerably over the next 12- 18 months and have further plans for expansion”.
As part of the £2m investment plan to offer unrivalled finishing capabilities for the packaging market, the Group has also made a £600,000 investment into a die-cutting and creasing machine. The new ECUT 1060 ELITE will complement Sherwood’s existing two die-cutting machines and it is expected to arrive later this year.
Martin King, Operations Director added:
“The addition of 4 new machines this year will double our capacity in key areas of production and significantly enhance our efficiency. The new ETERNA hot foil stamper has already brought our foiling and embossing capabilities to a higher level in both quality and efficiency.”
The company has recently retained BRCGS ‘AA’ certification for the 4th consecutive year. To meet the requirements of the standard, the Group’s manufacturing facility in Nottingham yet again excelled in expectations across a stringent set of criteria during the BRCGS audit in April 2022.
