Harrods Picnic Pack

The customer’s brief was to design and manufacture a multifunctional picnic carry pack for Harrods food hall, which could accommodate a combination of trays and pots for freshly made sandwiches, salads, mini patisserie selection and fruit to take away. The structure needed to be strong and easy to assemble for staff and customers, while maintain product visibility and have a relatively small footprint for transit.

“Thanks so much for your hard work – the pack looks amazing in store!”

Our Approach

The challenges for The Sherwood Group’s in-house constructional design team were to create the concept within a limited printing sheet parameter, considering the pack’s needs for multiple gluing and folding, while also working towards tight deadlines.

The constructional design of the pack was produced in-house, the customer was provided with high quality prototype samples of the pack, printed digitally with simulated foil block finishes. This enabled Harrods to ensure the packaging was fit for the intended purpose prior to full production and also to visualise how appealing it would look instore.

The carry pack and trays were fully produced and finished in-house. The trays featured Puracoat® – the Group’s environmentally friendly, water-based barrier control and a truly sustainable alternative to plastics and PET-lined food barrier packaging.
